PROFESSIONAL MEMBER

Professional Membership is the second step for UMREK Qualified Person (QP/CP/YK). A member of YERMAM who feels herself/himself ready for professional membership and UMREK Qualified Personality can apply for YERMAM Professional Membership. The professional member candidate must have at least years of actual experience in a field of expertise related to her/his profession. At this stage, the application is required as:

  • Professional Membership Application (may include UMREK Qualified Personality Application) (See Section.1)
  • Essay about YERMAM activities (See Section.2),
  • Detailed and updated resume (See Section.3),
  • Documents of Professional Development (See Section.3),
  • Reference Forms of 2 YERMAM Professional Members (See, Section 4),

Note: The member is expected to specify the issues that developed in her/his résumé and professional development during the period between the date she/he applied for membership and the date she/he applied for professional membership, and the related documents are expected to be added to the application and detail her/his resume. If there are changes to his physical appearance, it would be helpful to refresh his photo. Changes such as address, office, contact information are assumed to have been reported in a timely period. At the same time, the professional member candidate and her/his references should not have any subscription debt.

The application of the professional member candidate is evaluated by the Professional Member Evaluation Commission, which was established by YERMAM, and interviews are made if requested. If the Commission considers it necessary, the evaluation can be discussed in a Subcommittee. As a result of the evaluation, the Report of the Commission is decided by advisory the Board of Directors. Professional membership becomes official when the Professional Member Admission Fee and the first professional member monthly fee are paid to the relevant account. The member accepted as a professional member is notified and, if requested by the member, her/his application is submitted to UMREK for the nomination of UMREK Qualified Person.

YERMAM is the only Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) recognized by UMREK. The Member may apply to the UMREK Qualified Person using the title of YERMAM Professional Membership, which is an indicator of belonging and competence.

YERMAM Professional Member should continue her/his professional development without interruption and must inform YERMAM about changes in her/his resume and professional development to be included in her/his file. Informing will be beneficial in terms of the UMREK Competent Personality that she/he will have in the future. On the other hand, it is obligatory to pay fee regularly and adhere to the Code of Ethics.

YERMAM Professional Membership will have the following benefits for the mining professional:

  • YERMAM Professional Membership Title,
  • The possibility to become an UMREK Qualified Person,
  • As a member of an international professional organization, to be a member of a community of Qualified Persons in the mining sector,
  • To make significant progress in its professional development by taking advantage of YERMAM's trainings,
  • To have the advantage of finding a job that is suitable for your competence with the potential to establish a professional network,
  • To be in contact with institutional members and members who work in the most important organizations of the mining sector,
  • Right to Vote in the General Assembly of YERMAM.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

1. PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

During professional membership application, it is not necessary to fill in the membership application form again. An application written on the petition form and signed in wet will be sufficient. The Professional Membership Application Letter is expected to include:

  • Name and surname of applicant and number of membership,
  • Date of application,
  • Specialty area(s) in which she/he has at least 7 years of experience in the profession,
  • Name and surname of references and their professions.
  • If there is a request to become a UMREK Qualified Person, the request for forwarding the application to UMREK.

2. ASSAY ABOUT YERMAM ACTIVITIES

Essay should include these subjects of applicant opinion (minimum 1000 words):

  • Short resume of Applicant,
  • International reporting codes,
  • UMREK Codes,
  • Ethical rules,
  • Professional Development,
  • QA/QC,

3. RESUME AND OTHER DOCUMENTS OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTS

For YERMAM Professional Membership, what is expected from the applicant is not an ordinary job application or a resume (CV) and documents prepared for YERMAM membership. There should be a comprehensive narrative containing information and documents that will show and prove the competence that the member will have in the UMREK Qualified Person to be nominated. The curriculum vitae should clearly show that the candidate is open to professional development and that she/he is continuously developing professionally. The information to be provided in the detailed CV can be:

4.REFERENCES FOR PROFESSIONAL MEMBER APPLICANT

Those who will be reference for the applicant of YERMAM Professional Membership must fill in the Reference Form completely, with initials and sign, to the YERMAM Professional Membership Application Review Commission.

“Being a reference for YERMAM Professional Membership applications” is a very serious and important responsibility. It allows the applicant to become a Professional Member and an UMREK Competent Person. By reference, the applicant has judged and acknowledged that he is a geosciences professional of very high standards in the relevant field and has maintained this. With this reference, it will allow the applicant to be included in the relevant section of the reports to be written in the UMREK code in the relevant branch as an UMREK Competent Person. In order for the applicant to become a Yermam Professional Member and UMREK Competent Person, it has evaluated its professional professionalism and reputation in the sector. If you think the applicant is not ready to become an UMREK Competent Person, it should not be a reference.

In order to be a reference to the applicant;

  • Know at least 5 years of the applicant's professional career.
  • The applicant must be convinced that the professional member defined in the YERMAM statute and the UMREK Competent Person defined in the UMREK code is capable and respected.
  • Must be UMREK Competent Person or other internationally recognized professional organization Competent Person recognized by UMREK or a professional member of YERMAM.

In your evaluation, you should be sure of the following:

  • The applicant is professionally and ethically prepared to become a YERMAM Professional Member and UMREK Competent Person in the relevant subject,
  • You see and examine the applicant's application form and all other attached documents,
  • The applicant has read and understood the Umrek code and Umrek ethical rules,
  • Since the applicant will act in accordance with professional professional and ethical rules,
  • Whereas the applicant constantly develops himself professionally and personally in non-professional issues and will do so continuously,
  • Since the applicant will use best practices adopted by the industry in his work,
  • The applicant will work above the minimum specified occupational safety standards.
