BEING REFERENCE FOR THE PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

You are asked to be a reference for the YERMAM Professional Membership application. This reference letter should be fully filled , initialled (paraphed) and signed and submitted to the YERMAM Professional Membership Application Review Commission.

Being the reference for YERMAM Professional Membership applications is a very serious and important responsibility. It allows the applicant to become a Professional Member and an UMREK Competent Person. By being a reference, you acknowledge and agree that the applicant is and maintains a very high standard of geosciences in the relevant field. With this reference, you will enable the applicant to be included in the relevant section of the reports to be written in the UMREK code in the relevant branch as an UMREK Competent Person. In order for the applicant to become Yermam Professional Member and UMREK Competent Person, you have assessed her/his professionand prestige in the industry. If you think the applicant is not ready to become an UMREK Qualified Person, do not be a reference.

For being a reference to the applicant;

  • You must know at least 5 years of the applicant's professional career.
  • You must be convinced that the applicant has the capability and dignity of professional member defined in the YERMAM statute and the UMREK Competent Person defined in the UMREK code. You must be a UMREK Qualified Person or other (internationally recognized) professional organization Competent Person recognized by UMREK or a professional member of YERMAM.

Make sure of the following issues in your evaluation.

  • The applicant is ready to become a YERMAM Professional Member and UMREK Competent Person by professionally and ethically in her/his profession,
  • You have seen and reviewed the applicant's application form and all other attached documents.
  • The applicant has read and understood the UMREK code and UMREK ethics code.
  • The applicant will act in accordance with professional and ethical rules,
  • The applicant continuously improves herself / himself in professional and non-professional matters,
  • The applicant uses best practices adopted by the industry in her/his work,
  • The applicant works above the determined minimum occupational safety standards.
